We started learning about the letter D on Monday.  The children had the opportunity to use bingo markers or dot stickers to put dots on the letter D.  The bingo markers were a hit!

A is for Apple

September 29, 2008 · No Comments

We learned about the letter A last week.  We enjoyed writing the letter on each other’s backs.  We read words that begin with a.  We found the letter a in a poem about an apple tree.  We shared our A items from home.

Here is a picture of all of the things we brought in:

We had an angel, an AWANA’s vest, antlers, apples, apple jacks, acorns, apron, and an airplane.

We also made a list of words that begin with A.  We are learning that readers begin reading by looking at pictures and using picture clues to help them figure out words they don’t know.

Here is our chart of A words:

PTO Family Fun Night

September 29, 2008 · No Comments

Our first PTO meeting was held on Sept. 23.  We all met in the gym for a brief business meeting.  Then it was on to the classrooms.

Each teacher was asked to have a technology activity in the classroom to show the parents all of our new equipment and how it worked.  The children had a great time showing off the smartboard and microphones.  A couple of the parents even tried on the headsets to see what they were all about.

Here are a few pictures of our fun.

Here are some podcasts of the children that came with their parents.  They told me what their favorite part of kindergarten is.
